PortFinder is developed and operated by David Laliberté (Québec, Canada). This policy describes what the app does with your data. In short: without an account, nothing leaves your device; with an account, the server only receives encrypted data it cannot read.
Without an account
The switches you enter, their passwords and SNMP communities, the ARP history and the log stay on your device. Passwords are stored in the system keychain. The app only talks to your switches, at the addresses you typed in, on your local network. It contains no analytics, no advertising and no trackers.
With a sync account (optional)
Sync between Mac and iPad uses Sign in with Apple. The server (portfinder.gpxcanada.ca, hosted in Canada) then keeps:
- the stable identifier provided by Apple and, if you choose to share it, your e-mail address (or Apple's relay address) — only to identify your account;
- your switch records, passwords and communities included, end-to-end encrypted on the device (AES-256-GCM, key derived with PBKDF2 from a passphrase only you know). The server holds neither the passphrase nor the key: it cannot read this data, and neither can we;
- technical server logs (IP address, date, requested path) kept for at most 30 days for security and troubleshooting.
No data is sold, shared or used for any other purpose. No third party is involved, apart from Apple for authentication.
Deletion
Settings ▸ Sync ▸ “Delete the account and the server data” immediately and permanently erases everything the server holds about you. Data on the device remains yours; you remove it by uninstalling the app.
Your rights
