A wall jack, a cable that disappears into the wall… and no idea which port it comes out on. PortFinder polls your switches over read-only SNMP v2c and answers within seconds: “Floor 2, port 14”.
What it does
- Where am I plugged in? Plug your Mac or iPad into the jack: the app finds your address in the tables of every switch.
- Search by IP, MAC or port number, cross-referencing ARP and forwarding tables.
- Link monitoring: the port that just went “Up” appears with the detected device.
- Port details: link, speed, VLAN, STP, LLDP neighbor, PoE, connected devices.
- Mac and iPad in sync, end-to-end encrypted, optional.
Multi-vendor
PortFinder reads the standard MIBs: IF-MIB, Q-BRIDGE-MIB, IP-MIB, POWER-ETHERNET-MIB, LLDP-MIB. Cisco, Aruba / HPE, Juniper, Extreme, Brocade / Ruckus, Dell, Netgear, Ubiquiti, MikroTik… A read-only community is all it needs. Nothing to install on the switches, nothing to write.
Try it without a network
Three simulated switches answer inside the app (Settings ▸ Demo), so you can see every feature before connecting the real ones.
